From Enrollment to Graduation
If you obtain a regular driver's license at Driving Camp, the period from enrollment to graduation will be approximately 14 to 16 days for automatic transmissions and 15 to 17 days for manual transmissions.
However, it may change slightly depending on the driving Driving School and the time of year, so check the graduation calendar on the Prices page of each driving Driving School.
In addition, the stated schedule is not extended and is a guide when the lesson progresses in the shortest time.
Please note that if an extension occurs during the training period for any reason, it will be longer than the planned period.
In addition, as a general rule, you will not be able to go home during Driving Camp. In the case of an emergency, you may be able to go home after discussing with Driving School so please consult with us.
General Flow
Day 1: Starting Day
【STEP 0】
Meet at a designated place
If you are late for Meeting Time, you may not be able to enter the school.
In bad weather, traffic may be disrupted, so Departure early with plenty of time.
Make sure you have nothing Departure behind before you leave.
【STEP 1】
Admission procedure / explanation
Admission procedures: Certificate of Residence (住民票), ID card, and other necessary documents will be checked.
【STEP 2】
Aptitude test
Your vision, hearing, and motor skills will be tested. A Regular Car License requires a minimum visual acuity of 0.3 for one eye and 0.7 or more for both eyes (glasses and contact lenses can be used).
【STEP 3】
Preceding department
First, you need to get the basic knowledge about driving. If you missed the introductory class (arrived late, etc.), then you will not be able to take any further lessons. That is why it is so important to arrive on time!
Day 1-6
【STEP 4】
Stage 1
In the first stage of Lessons for written test, you will learn the basic knowledge for driving on the road. All Driving lesson is conducted on-site and you will learn basic operation and driving.
At the last lesson period, "Mikiwame" will be held to check the effect of the lesson.
For a regular driver's license with automatic transmission only, the first stage involves 10 hours of Lessons for written test and 12 hours of Driving lesson.
Day 7
【STEP 6】
Learner’s Permit Driving Exam
Once you have completed all of the first stage Lessons for written test and passed Driving lesson assessment, you will move on to Learner’s Permit Driving Exam.
A Driving test will be placed in the passenger seat and other examinees will be placed in the back seat to drive the course.
【STEP 7】
Learner’s Permit / Karimenkyo Written Test
The Learner’s Permit / Karimenkyo Written Test is conducted in a ○× format with a total of 50 questions.
You will pass if you answer 45 or more questions correctly.
【STEP 8】
Obtaining a Temporary drivers license
After issuing your Learner’s Permit, you will be able to drive with an instructor on the public roads outside of the school venue.
Day 7-13
【STEP 9】
Second stage
The second stage of Lessons for written test teaches you more practical knowledge for driving.
Driving lesson, in addition to the training in the hall such as direction change and parallel parking, the road training will start.
In the final training period, the Driving lesson "Mikiwame" will be held as in the first stage.
Day 14
【STEP 11】
Final Driving Exam
After completing the second stage of Lessons for written test and passing the “Mikiwame” Driving lesson, you will be able to take the “Final Driving Exam” using courses on the street and in the driving Driving School.
On the streets, the road and surrounding traffic, whether you can drive in response to danger prediction, and on Driving School, either parallel parking or turning is done.
If you pass, you will receive a "graduation certificate" and graduate. This will exempt you from the "practical (skill) test" at the driver's license testing center.
【STEP 12】
Graduation / Driving Camp ends
A graduation ceremony will be held, and the Driving Camp about two weeks will end.
You will be ready to go home so that you will not forget anything.
Anytime within 1 year after Graduation
【STEP 13】
This license subject examination
Take the "Main License Department Examination" at the driver's license examination center of the prefecture where you have your resident's card with your "graduation certificate" and "provisional driver's license".
The written exam will be passed if you score 90 or more correct answers out of a total of 100 points.
【STEP 14】
Obtain a driver's license
Once you've passed the Final Written Exam, your Japanese Driving License will be issued the same day! Congratulations!
